Attention Students in grades K-12 throughout our seven-county district!

Be creative and draw SISWD a recycling ad to be published in your local newspaper! One winner will be selected from each of our seven counties that we serve. More information below:

The Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District (SISWD) announces a “Create a Recycling Ad” contest. The competition is open to students in grades K-12 in the seven-county district of Franklin, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, and Switzerland Counties.

Students are asked to create artwork with a recycling topic to be used as a SISWD newspaper advertisement. Entries should focus on one three themes: Why should I recycle? How does recycling help save our planet? An interpretation of how re-using and re-purposing items as forms of recycling is another idea that can be addressed.

Entries must be submitted on white 8 ½” X 11” paper—preferably card stock—and crafted with markers, black, or colored pencils. Students’ information should be on an entry form and attached to the back side. The deadline is March 7, 2012. Limit of one entry per student.

A grand prize winner will be selected from each county. The winning artwork will be produced as a SISWD advertisement that will be published in the county newspaper of the winners’ school. A framed copy of the entry will be given to each school that produces a winning entry. A prize package will be given to each winning artist. Schools that have winning entries will be notified on or before April 12, 2012.

All entries become the property of SISWD and will not be returned.

A prospectus with a complete list of rules, guidelines, and entry forms can be found on the SISWD Facebook page at Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District, or on this website. Entry forms can be e-mailed/faxed to entrants by contacting Kendal Miller at 812-574-4080 or kendal@siswd.com.

Submissions can be mailed to: Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District at 6556 N. Shun Pike Rd., JPG #534, Madison, IN 47250, Attn: Recycling Ad Contest. Mailed entries must be postmarked by March 7. Hand-carried entries must arrive at the SISWD office by 3:00pm on March 7.  Please call or e-mail ahead to schedule a drop-off time.
